DESCRIPTION:FREE EVENT | NO REGISTRATION NEEDED\n\nHave you ever considered cycling\, but never had the opportunity to give it a go due to a disability? If that’s you\, why not come down to the Silo Park Waterfront and try a variety of different cycles from recumbent cycles\, handcycles\, assist power-trikes to wheelchair bikes\, trailer options & more.\n\nThe TryaCycle Event will be held on Sunday 4 June from 11am till 4pm. There will be information on hand around grants to assist you in funding equipment. And/or take to the cycleways with cycles from the equipment loan that has been facilitated by Disability Sport Auckland and the Auckland Whānau Special Needs Support Group. We will have it all here onsite down at Silo Park Waterfront\, Jellicoe Harbour\, 34 Bridgham Street\, Auckland.\n\nNo registration required\, but it’s recommended to book a slot to try a cycle here https://grabyourwheels.nz/events/. Some of the cycles only get brought along if people have booked!\n\nA volunteer support person will be available to ride alongside you.\n\nIt’s smack bang in the heart of Auckland\, next to some wicked protected cycleways and shared paths. So\, even if you already own a hand-cycle\, recumbent\, bike trailer or trike come on down and join in the fun for our Open Day event. Bring your inclusive cycle and we’ll give you a complimentary hot drink voucher. We want to show Tāmaki Makaurau what inclusive cycling is all about.\n\nThere is plenty of parking around Silo Park (including mobility parks) with public accessible toilets close to the playground. The main ferry terminal\, bus and train stations are all under a 30-minutes walk/wheel away.\n\nIf this sounds like you\, then come on down and hang out with the inclusive cycling community! We may even start up our own Inclusive Cycling Bike Burb!\n\nYou can book a session to try out a cycle which may suit you on the safe\, inner-city network. DESCRIPTION:Do you identify as a womxn of colour? \nEver wanted to try cycling for fun? Already cycling\, commuting and/or want to meet like minded people? \nCome join Louise Tu’u\, a Samoan recreational cyclist and director of We Should Practice\, who knows how much fun it is to ride on a bike and wants to share her love and enthusiasm so that other ethnic women can ride push or e-bikes. \nWe have a line-up of amazing guest speakers\, who we will reveal closer to the time. They are all womxn of colour and understand the unique opportunities and challenges that we face when cycling. \nNote: We use the word womxn to avoid the suggestion of sexism perceived in the spelling sequences m-a-n and m-e-n\, and to be inclusive of trans women and nonbinary people.\nOtahuhu Recreational Sports Society is just off the beautiful shared walking and cycle path of Station Road\, so we encourage you to cycle on your bike. Enjoy this relaxed and organised gathering to meet and connect with other riders. Light refreshments will be available. There is limited car parking\, as there is a busy tournament for the club at the same time. \nIf you don’t cycle or don’t know how\, please come. E-bikes are taking the cycling world by storm – they flatten out Auckland’s many hills\, allow the rider to go further and faster\, all whilst being able to arrive at a destination looking and feeling fresh. \nThese rides will start in Kingsland\, a short walk from the train station\, and go around the central city loop\, taking in and showcasing some of Auckland’s best cycling infrastructure\, giving access to many of the locations hosting Auckland Climate Festival Events. A rapid and complete transformation of the transport and land-use planning system means the way people\, goods and services move around Auckland today is very different from how it was done 27 years ago. \nWe do not need to use our cars as much because there are alternative ways to get around. DESCRIPTION:Bring your crochet\, bring your knitting\, bring another creative project\, bring yourself – let’s have a coffee at Wish Cafe! Beverages are free\, courtesy of Bike Auckland! \n\n\nYou can make decorations for the bike parking on Karangahape rd\, ready to be used for Pride Month’s yarn bombing (February; Yarn for Pride)\, or you can focus on your own projects. If you’d like to learn crochet\, we can teach you! \nThere will be spare yarn and crochet hooks available courtesy of Creative Communities Scheme Funding. Beginners are welcome. \n\n\nAfter coffee we will sew yarn pieces onto the bike parking along Karangahape road!! There will be spare scissors and yarn needles so you can help  \n  \n\nPlease stay home if you are feeling unwell.

DESCRIPTION:We’re celebrating our LGBTQI+ community and the Karangahape road cycleway with colourful yarnbombs this Pride Month!\nTake a stroll along K-rd to see the bike parking decorated with colourful yarnbombs; a mixture of pride flags and fun and funky designs. \nVisit Karangahape Road during February 2024 to see pride on full display\, yarn style. \nYou are welcome to knit or crochet a scarf for the K-rd bike parking too! The scarf should be 14cm or 5.5Inches wide (not stretched)\, and no longer than 260cm or 103 Inches.
