DESCRIPTION:Let’s ride together to the EcoWest Festival cycle-powered cinema in Avondale. \nWe’ll meet at Te Atatu Peninsula Library verandah at 5.30pm for a 5.45pm departure. And we’ll pick up any Te Atatu South bicyclists at Te Atatu underpass at 6pm. \nWe’ll ride off the road almost all the way\, via the Northwestern Cycleway and the Waterview path to Avondale. There’s a very small amount of back-street riding once we get to Avondale. \nYou’ll be able to make your own way back in your own time or come back with other riders if you aren’t so confident to do that. \nThere’s heaps going on: live music\, art and performances\, food trucks and bike-powered screenings of locally made short films. DESCRIPTION:Prepare to be inspired! \nThe Big Bike Film Night is on a mission sharing the best cycling short films from around the world with you. \nOur 2019 collection showcases everything a cycling-centric audience could want: action\, drama\, humour\, and plenty of inspiration; the evening is going to be unashamedly\, unequivocally\, and utterly bike-alicious! \nOur treasure chest of stories includes… a spectacle of winter with the icy playground providing a visual journey as never seen before by bike; a fixie rider who commits a crime of passion; five friends with disabilities attempting a world-first human-powered ride from Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre 2150km to Mount Kosciuszko in Australia (what could possibly go wrong?); a New Zealander with a two-wheeled love story to share; a heart-warming documentary about a ‘community mother’ who runs a bicycle training program for migrant and refugee women in Amsterdam; and two pioneering mountain bikers undertaking an adventure in wild and unknown landscapes\, riding only horse trails\, in heartland Africa; ALL in the mix!! \nThese short films are a great reminder of why we love to ride our bike; with stories that captivate us\, stories that make us think\, and most importantly of all – stories that inspire us to get out and ride. DESCRIPTION:The Big Bike Film Night is on a mission- sharing the best cycling short films from around the world with you.\nShowcasing our 2021 collection that has everything a cycle-centric audience could want – action\, drama\, humour\, and plenty of inspiration; the evening is unashamedly and utterly\, utterly\, utterly designed and devised for the two wheel devotee!\nThis year’s treasure chest of films includes an incredible story of a transformative bikepacking journey through the Canadian Rockies; an unusual Victorian pastime taking place in modern London;\na rider who has a burden of blindness and its vulnerabilities to contend with while undertaking a gruelling self-supported fat bike race in the Arctic; the humble story of a BMX Club and their dream of becoming the number one Club in the UK; a young female rider who goes back in time to carry the stories of the past into the future; four adventurers bikerafting and riding through challenging landscapes\, following the historical trails to and from one of New Zealand’s most significant rivers; and a unique bike builder who builds off-road cycles that help change people’s lives; ALL in the mix!!\nThese short films are a great reminder of why we love to ride our bike; with stories that captivate us\, stories that make us think\, and most importantly of all- inspiring us to get out and ride.
