You’re still welcome to join the ride!\n*****\nBe at Bike Hub Grey Lynn (the northern end of Grey Lynn Park) from 7pm to decorate your bike\, have a go on the pump track\, and collect some sparkly freebies such as bike lights and retro-reflective backpack covers.\nOur beginner-friendly group ride will set off at 7.30pm. DESCRIPTION:Join us to ride Te Ara I Whiti on its tenth anniversary.\nTe Ara I Whiti\, the Lightpath was a bold idea to repurpose a disused motorway off-ramp and  turn it into a path for people. Without the early spark and persuasive energy of Bike Auckland’s Max Robitzsch and Barb Cuthbert\, it might still be an unrealised concept. Now this glowing pink ribbon with incredible views is a joyful\, iconic part of our city\, and a cornerstone of the growing network which connects more Aucklanders to where they want to go. \nThe path opened on 3rd December 2015\, after being constructed in a remarkable 9 months from idea to opening. \nFast forward ten years\, and we want to mark this milestone with all of you! Please join us for a celebratory event on the morning of Wednesday 3 December. \nWe are looking for keen riders to help us mark the occasion\nIf you plan on coming along on your bike to ride the path with us for a photo opportunity\, please register your attendance as soon as possible. This allows us to send out any useful info close to the time. \nMeet outside the Electric Bike Team shop by the Canada St end of the path at 8am. We’ll set off soon after. The more the merrier\, so bring a friend and let’s make this big! \nThose on foot\, on scooters\, in wheelchairs\, etc. are all welcome. \nWe look forward to marking the moment with you.

DESCRIPTION:This event is by Cycle Action Waiheke. Registration required. \n  \nAre you mountain bike curious? Do you have a bike but don’t know how to get started trail-riding? Do you look longingly at the bush-clad hills of Onetangi Sports Park and wish you could get amongst it on two wheels? Mountain biking is so much fun – it’s great for physical and mental health\, gets you out into nature\, and is so exciting and exhilarating (NOT scary – unless you want it to be!). Come along to our Mountain Bike Sampler day at Onetangi Sports Park and give it a go with guidance from experienced riders. We’ll start with some basic skills on the field before hitting the Grade 1 Family Track for a couple of laps. Then we can break into two groups – those who want to head up the hill for something more adventurous can do so\, while those happy to keep practicing on the Family Track can stick with that. No one will be left behind or pressured to do anything they are not comfortable with. \nRiders of all ages are welcome. You will need a bike in reasonable condition (preferably with front suspension) and a helmet. And water! \nPlease make sure that you check your and your children’s bikes in advance\, and bring them to Bike Hub for maintenance if necessary. We can’t bring kids out with bikes that don’t work\, and don’t want to disappoint on the day!

DESCRIPTION:Event by Bike Eastern Suburbs. RSVP required as numbers are strictly limited! \n  \nCome and turn your bike into a fish! \nThis fun\, free three-hour workshop you will cut out\, assemble\, fit and decorate a cardboard fish head for your bike. We may not have time for everything to dry\, but you will have something you can take home. \nMade from recycled cardboard and foam\, the heads are custom made for each bike and can be quickly fitted and removed. \nThe workshop is at Sunhill Garden Centre Markets\, St Johns Rd from 9.00 to 12.00. \nWe will be using sharp knives and very sticky glue so it’s a workshop for bigger kids and adults (12+). Smaller kids can come but need to be one on one supervised by an adult. Cruise in a friendly bike gang with retro tunes for the whole family along the Te Auaunga shared path from Mt Albert to Waterview.\n \nOnce at the Envirohub (Methodist Church grounds) there will be a dance\, and opportunity to have a picnic on the grass or partake in food from the vendors. \n \n\nWhile the ride will follow mostly shared bike paths\, there will be short sections of road and everyone is ultimately in charge of their own safety and safety of their own children.\n\n \n\nWhen: Friday 26th\, 4.30pm (ride till 5.30\, event runs till approx 8pm)\nWhere: Start at Young George Cafe 86A Hendon Ave Owairaka\, Ride the bike path with pumping tines on Josca’s bike trailer\, finish with Disco and food trucks at the Waterview Envirohub\, 1547 Great North Road\n \n \n

DESCRIPTION:Leave your car brain at home and Jump(er) on a Bike to help us celebrate cycling\, knitting\, and the newly completed joined-up\, continuous cycleway now open on Te Hā Noa – Victoria Street.\nThe New Zealand Fashion Museum\, Bike Auckland and Auckland Council invite you to don your warmest\, oldest\, boldest\, holiest\, most fabulous jumper (or cardigan) and jump on your bike for a jumper-themed bike parade down Te Hā Noa. \n\n5.30pm – Arrive on your bike via Te Hā Noa – Victoria Street West bike path.\nAssemble at the bike racks by Te Waihorotiu Station on the corner of Victoria Street West and Federal Street for registration.\n6pm – Parade/ride down Te Hā Noa past the judges at Elliott Street and regroup at the seating area between Elliott and Queen Street for final judging\n7pm – Park up at the free Bike Auckland Valet Parking in Darby Street and stay on for a hot drink and prizegiving in The Strand Arcade.\n\nThe best-dressed riders will win prizes\, so get creative and ride with pride! \nThe parade kicks off at 6pm – don’t miss it! All ages welcome. \nStay and enjoy the Midtown Street Party in The Strand Arcade and visit the KNIT exhibition\, join a workshop and peruse the Makers Market. Enjoy the music and something to eat in the Strand Arcade\, Elliott Stables or from one of the many food options in Midtown. \nThe two-way cycleway is physically separated from traffic\, offering a protected route that’s safer and more accessible for riders of all levels coming from across the East or West.
