SUMMARY:Counties Cycle Classic
DESCRIPTION:The Counties Cycle Classic returns this year on October 13\, at Pukekohe Park Raceway. Once again\, we’ll be using the world famous V8 track to start and finish the races. \nFor more information and to register to ride\, visit: http://countiescycleclassic.co.nz/ \nThe Counties Cycle Classic caters for all levels: serious riders can take on the 92km challenge\, there’s a 52km course for those looking for a bit of a challenge\, and the shorter 42km course for casual riders. \nAs well as the traditional rides\, the Classic has a special e-bike section where riders are challenged to get as close as they can to a pre-set time; and rides for children around the V8 track – definitely an experience to share at school talks. \nAbout the Counties Cycle Classic \nFast becoming a fixture on the cycling calendar\, the event organized by the Rotary Club of Pukekohe Inc. is shaping up to be even bigger and better this year. Organiser Graham Russell says the Classic has again been well supported by sponsorship from local businesses and a grant from the Franklin Local board of Auckland Council. As a Rotary initiative\, every dollar raised goes to charity and youth sports. \nDay and Time \nThis year’s Counties Cycle Classic will be held on Sunday 13 October 2019\, just a couple of weeks ahead of the K2 on the Coromandel and about six weeks before the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge\, which is also a Rotary initiative. So it’s a perfect warm-up opportunity to start getting yourself in shape. \nDetails \nDistances are the same as last year: 42km\, 52km\, 97km plus a time trial for electric bikes on the 52km course. \nThe ride is on roads with very little traffic and great scenery\, and there’s also the opportunity for children to ride around the V8 track whilst the cycle races are out on the road\, so all in all it’s a great family day out. \nFor timing of the races\, and details of entry fees\, visit the Counties Cycle Classic website. \nWhat participants said about last year’s Counties Cycle Classic \n\nIt was really enjoyable and well managed. (Our first time in Pukekohe)\nCongratulations with organizing a great cycle race.\nwhat a great event I thought yesterday was. We will encourage more of the local club members to come along next year.\nthank you for putting on such a well organized race. We enjoyed being a sponsor and the boys had a great ride.\nI really enjoyed the event.Just the second cycle event I have done.  I entered the 97km event and enjoyed the route and felt safe with the traffic management you had in place.  The road chosen had plenty of shoulder space where there was traffic.\nThanks for a well run event in the weekend.\nThanks for a great event. It was my first race in New Zealand and I thoroughly enjoyed it .  Please thank all the marshals along the route for guiding us and stopping the traffic to allow us to keep going.  I felt very safe along the whole ride and will definitely ride again next year.\nGreat cycling event\, flawlessly organized.\nFantastic organisation this year!

SUMMARY:Here Comes The Sun - a Pt Chev play street
DESCRIPTION:Hey\, Pt Chev – let’s meet on the street!  \n“Here Comes the Sun” is a community play street event\, brought to you by Bike Pt Chev and Pt Chevalier School with support from neighbours and community groups. \nOn Friday 1 November from 8am to 8pm\, we’re transforming Te R? Road outside the primary school into an all-day car-free play space\, that’s closed to traffic and open for people. \nInspired by the international movements for School Streets and Play Streets\, we’re welcoming summertime by shining a light on how our streets can be healthy and happy places for people of all ages. \n8am – 9am: The fun begins before school\, with a wide open traffic-free street where children can play\, scoot and bike\, while parents and teachers share coffee and chat. \n9am – 3pm: During the school day\, Te R? Road will become an open-air classroom for fun and creative learning activities\, with visits from other schools\, kindergartens\, and community groups. \n3pm – 8pm: After school\, everyone’s invited to come and play! As afternoon rolls into evening\, the street fills with music and old-fashioned fun and games\, plus food trucks from 5pm – 8pm\, for a neighbourhood street party vibe until sunset. \n• Walk\, bike\, or scoot to the event\, and enjoy free and secure valet bike parking from 3pm.\n• Dine at the Auckland Food Truck Collective food trucks\, or bring a picnic dinner.\n• Visit the Bike Pt Chev info tent\, check out the Safe Kids driveway safety display\, and Auckland Transport will be on hand with info about upcoming streetscape projects.\n• We’ll have games and activities to share\, but feel free to bring your own\, too.\n• The event is smoke-free\, no alcohol and zero-waste\, for good clean fun. BYO coffee mugs for free coffees from 8am-9am!\n• All ages are welcome\, but please leave dogs at home this time. \nHere Comes The Sun is supported and funded by the Albert-Eden Local Board’s Neighbourhood Arts Programme\, and brought to you by Pt Chevalier School and Bike Pt Chev in proud partnership with Auckland Transport and NZ Transport Agency/Waka Kotahi (as an Innovating Streets For People case study)\, with generous support from MacGregor Brothers Espresso\, BISC\, and Professionals Point Chevalier.

Road outside the primary school into an all-day car-free play space\, that’s closed to traffic and open for people.\nInspired by the international movements for School Streets and Play Streets\, we’re welcoming summertime by shining a light on how our streets can be healthy and happy places for people of all ages.\n8am – 9am: The fun begins before school\, with a wide open traffic-free street where children can play\, scoot and bike\, while parents and teachers share coffee and chat.\n9am – 3pm: During the school day\, Te R? Road will become an open-air classroom for fun and creative learning activities\, with visits from other schools\, kindergartens\, and community groups.\n3pm – 8pm: After school\, everyone’s invited to come and play! As afternoon rolls into evening\, the street fills with music and old-fashioned fun and games\, plus food trucks from 5pm – 8pm\, for a neighbourhood street party vibe until sunset.\n• Walk\, bike\, or scoot to the event\, and enjoy free and secure valet bike parking from 3pm.\n• Dine at the Auckland Food Truck Collective food trucks\, or bring a picnic dinner.\n• Visit the Bike Pt Chev info tent\, check out the Safe Kids driveway safety display\, and Auckland Transport will be on hand with info about upcoming streetscape projects.\n• We’ll have games and activities to share\, but feel free to bring your own\, too.\n• The event is smoke-free\, no alcohol and zero-waste\, for good clean fun. BYO coffee mugs for free coffees from 8am-9am!\n• All ages are welcome\, but please leave dogs at home this time.\nHere Comes The Sun is supported and funded by the Albert-Eden Local Board’s Neighbourhood Arts Programme\, and brought to you by Pt Chevalier School and Bike Pt Chev in proud partnership with Auckland Transport and NZ Transport Agency/Waka Kotahi (as an Innovating Streets For People case study)\, with generous support from MacGregor Brothers Espresso\, BISC\, and Professionals Point Chevalier.

SUMMARY:Koha Bike Fix Day
DESCRIPTION:We’re a community-based not-for-profit operation and our staff are ably assisted by enthusiastic volunteers. Our aim is to work alongside you to develop your skills and knowledge\, so you can freely enjoy the benefits of cycling.\nWe offer free and koha maintenance and basic bike repairs to get you back up and going again. If you are unable to give a koha that’s absolutely fine\, it’s not a requirement and we will still sort you out. If you do give a koha it helps us to keep the OBB open to the community and to also honour our volunteers time when we can.\nPlease note our team are all trained volunteers and if you wish to have you bike fixed you do so at your own risk. We don’t offer a certified specialized mechanical repair service where you can drop your bike off to be fixed but we can point you in the right direction if this is a service you require.\nNo bookings are necessary. Walk in’s only. Feel free to pm us if you want to check if we can fix your bike before you come in.\nKeep the wheels spinning whanau.
