Our lead qualified mechanic Luke will be running these workshops and we are really thankful to have him as part of our team. He’s one of the best mechanics in Auckland.\n* Details:\n– 2 hour workshop.\n– Kai provided.\n– This interactive workshop takes the mystery out of the bicycle. Luke will show you how to do a basic inspection to ensure your bike is in safe working order\, how to clean your bike and make minor adjustments\, and how to fix the dreaded flat tyre\, breaks\, gears and more if time permits.\n– Participants are encouraged to bring along their own bikes so they can become familiar with the mechanics of their own bike. Hop on our BMX bikes and give the pump track a go\, or try out our novelty bikes. \nBike donations welcome. Donated bikes are restored and made available again to the community at a low cost. This helps to fund the EcoMatters Bike Hubs’ free services. \nRECYCLE: CASH FOR TRASH\nWe’re bringing back the ‘cash for trash’ bottle deposits. Bring us your plastic\, glass bottles and aluminium cans\, and we’ll give you 20c for each beverage container – it’s one less bit of rubbish on our streets and in our waterways! SUMMARY:Cycle and Recycle Wednesdays
DESCRIPTION:Join EcoMatters every Wednesday 2.30-4.30pm\, for Cycle and Recycle goodness at the old 3 Guys site\, 1909-1949 Great North Road in the Avondale Town Centre. \nCYCLE: ECOMATTERS BIKE FIX\nGot a bike that’s not working right? Bring it to the free EcoMatters Bike Fix Drop-in Session by the pump track! Get tips and tricks on maintaining your bike and pick up free cycling maps. Hop on our BMX bikes and give the pump track a go\, or try out our novelty bikes.\nBike donations welcome. Donated bikes are restored and made available again to the community at a low cost. This helps to fund the EcoMatters Bike Hubs’ free services. \nRECYCLE: CASH FOR TRASH\nWe’re bringing back the ‘cash for trash’ bottle deposits. Bring us your plastic\, glass bottles and aluminium cans\, and we’ll give you 20c for each beverage container – it’s one less bit of rubbish on our streets and in our waterways! (Limited to 80 items per person.) \nAND MORE…\nWe’ll have eco-experts here to provide free advice and goodies each week\, so keep an eye on our event updates for what’s coming up.\nStarting 8 May 2019 and running til July. DESCRIPTION:Bike Kaipatiki’s Pop-up Bike Hub is coming to Northcote Town Centre for September and October! \nWe’ll have a range of routine activities like free maintenance\, guided rides\, information and freebees. Additionally keep an eye on our Bike Kaipatiki Facebook page and our website for events being run from the hub. \nActivities will include: \n* Drop in bike safety checks and tune-ups\n* Borrow bikes\n* Donate bikes you no longer use and Bike Kaipatiki will service them and donate them to organisations who can get them to those who need and will use them\n* Join us for guided rides. \nSPECIAL EVENT – SATURDAY 22 SEPTEMBER! \n* Bling your bike on Saturday 22nd of September and join us for a night ride along the Northcote Safe Cycle Route from 6:30pm to show off those lights! Safe for all ages and abilities.\n* 9am – 3pm swing by the container to decorate your bike with free ribbons and lights\n* 6.30pm gather at the container to get ready to ride\n* 7-9pm a guided night ride along the route! \nMORE ABOUT THE POP-UP BIKE HUB \nThe Bike Kaipatiki Pop-up Bike Hub is in the Northcote Town Centre. \nThere will be something happening at the Hub between 10am and 4pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays every week from the 11th of September to the end of October. \nThe hub will be active most Saturdays between 9am and 3pm (though we don’t plan to be open on the Saturday of Labour Weekend\, October 22nd). \n\nMost days\, we will be taking donated bikes to repair and gift out into the community\, offering free safety checks and basic maintenance\, information and more.
