DESCRIPTION:Hello Ladies! This ride is for female riders who are new to riding or who may need a confidence boost.     We will start with a quick ride around the carpark\, to gauge rider levels\, before heading onto the Cascades Shared Pathway. The ride will be slow\, leisurely and supportive – we will ride as much or as little as everyone is up too  A coffee stop will be included!\nRide will begin at 9am from Howick Historical Village but please show up at 8:45am for a quick briefing.\nRIDER SUITABILITY\nA relaxed\, almost flat\, social ride.\n∙ Must be able to ride a bike but by no means do you need to be 100% confident.\nBIKE SUITABILITY\n√ Mountain Bikes\n√ Hybrid Bikes\n√ eBikes\nThe Cascades Shared Pathway\, the local gem that connects many of our local burbs! This ride will show you the key entry points\, a few of the off-shoots and how to make your way to Bunnings! That’s right\, this meandering path has many en route attractions with exits\nto shops\, cafes\, the best Asian eateries\, playgrounds\, swimming pools\, supermarkets\, sports fields and five schools. We’ll start in Howick and head to Burswood\, looping around a Tāmaki Estuary inlet before heading to Lloyd Elsmore Park for a coffee at the Howick Homestead Cafe. From here will take a quick detour to the Highland Park end\, and pop out at Meadowlands Drive\nto show you East AK’s only cycle path! Join us for this local explore.

Do you want to stretch your endurance further than normal and gain a sense of accomplishment hitting 100km on a ride?\nThis ride will take you south to Drury\, and onwards through the gentle undulating hills of Ramarama\, Paerata and Karaka. It’s not flat\, but no tough hill climbs either. We’re aiming for an average pace of 24km/h\, this roughly means a speed of just under 30 on the flat.\nThis is a no-drop ride – no one gets left behind\, we will stick together on the flats but allow for own pacing on uphills – waiting at the top of each one. As last time\, we will leave as two groups\, one at a leisurely pace of 15-20kmph and the other at a quicker pace of 20-25kmph. A good level of fitness is required! \nThe ride will be on 95% quiet roads and cycle paths or lanes (50/50 path/road) with regular regrouping so that nobody gets left behind. Road\, ebike or Cyclocross bikes would be preferable. \nWe will park at St Heliers Bay by Vellenoweth Green and ride along the water front to the city. Then up the Nelson Street path and onto the Lightpath followed by the North-Western path to the Waterview and South-Western path to Onehunga. Finally the foreshore path to Penrose and return to St Heliers Bay for a well deserved coffee or beer and a catchup with the other group. \nAlso for your own safety I recommend a helmet\, lights\, a bell\, bright clothing and confidence on the road. \nIf you cant make this ride I will be listing it again shortly.

You can make your own way there and join the guided ride! \nNote that this ride will have a significant amount of on-road riding\, but we will go at the pace of the lowest rider. Road outside the primary school into an all-day car-free play space\, that’s closed to traffic and open for people. \nInspired by the international movements for School Streets and Play Streets\, we’re welcoming summertime by shining a light on how our streets can be healthy and happy places for people of all ages. \n8am – 9am: The fun begins before school\, with a wide open traffic-free street where children can play\, scoot and bike\, while parents and teachers share coffee and chat. \n9am – 3pm: During the school day\, Te R? Road will become an open-air classroom for fun and creative learning activities\, with visits from other schools\, kindergartens\, and community groups. \n3pm – 8pm: After school\, everyone’s invited to come and play! As afternoon rolls into evening\, the street fills with music and old-fashioned fun and games\, plus food trucks from 5pm – 8pm\, for a neighbourhood street party vibe until sunset. \n• Walk\, bike\, or scoot to the event\, and enjoy free and secure valet bike parking from 3pm.\n• Dine at the Auckland Food Truck Collective food trucks\, or bring a picnic dinner.\n• Visit the Bike Pt Chev info tent\, check out the Safe Kids driveway safety display\, and Auckland Transport will be on hand with info about upcoming streetscape projects.\n• We’ll have games and activities to share\, but feel free to bring your own\, too.\n• The event is smoke-free\, no alcohol and zero-waste\, for good clean fun.
