Sorry\, folks – we’ll try again next year!  \nFor this event\, the Falls Carpark on Alderman Drive in Henderson will be transformed into an open-air cinema for local families to enjoy\, with food trucks\, entertainment\, and family favourite Ratatouille lighting up the big screen. \nBest of all\, instead of a drive-in movie\, it’s a walk-in\, bike-in\, bus-or-train-to event! \nThe movie starts at 6pm at The Falls Carpark. \nArriving by bike or on foot? Check out the Bike Auckland Discovery Trail along the Henderson Creek path and the Opanuku Stream path for a jazzed-up journey.  From 4-6pm these two paths will feature pop-up arts and circus activities – visit the action stations to collect tokens that you can swap for food truck discounts and VIP seating at the movie. \nAlso: two group rides will be meeting at 4pm to head to the movie along the paths\, and then home again afterwards around 8pm. DESCRIPTION:The Bike Kaipatiki team invites you on a social bike ride to explore the less frequently travelled upper reaches of Kaipatiki! \nThis year\, we may have special guests along\, in the form of cousins Matthieu and Quentin from France – they’re cycling around the globe to raise awareness of the harm plastic does to the environment and to encourage us to reduce\, reuse and recycle. We hope they’ll be able to give the group more information at either Altura or Columbus. To find out more about their project see: \nhttps://www.facebook.com/cycletorecycleplastic/\nhttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqQEmwpkCgIN2TlaDyTKMmQ \nStarting from and returning to Columbus Coffee at Smales Farm\, our route will take in:\n– A close-up of some remarkable architecture\n– Weird sculptures in a wetlands renovation\n– Bush scenes that will make you think you’re in back-blocks NZ\n– A strange subterranean tunnel more reminiscent of a Hobbit movie\n– A stunning lake\n– High performance sport in action\n– Bucolic scenes you surely wouldn’t expect in the heart of a metropolis. \nCome and join us on a voyage of discovery into parts of the Shore you perhaps never knew existed\, or at least probably haven’t seen from the saddle of a bike. \nStarting at 8am from Smales (where you may want to drive to with your bike on a rack)\, we’ll make our way north using as many off-road paths as we can. Unfortunately\, of necessity there will be some parts of the route where we’re on the road and sharing with cars\, so you need to be comfortable about riding on the road. There will also be some hills\, but we’ve kept the gradients as easy as possible. \nYou’ll be in a group with a ride leader and Tail-End-Charlie who will ensure we all keep together as safely as possible. If you lack a bit of fitness or road confidence – don’t worry. We’ll all stay together to maximise the enjoyment. This isn’t a race\, and there will be plenty of stops to look at the attractions and catch a breather. \nFrom Smales Farm\, we’ll ride north for an hour or so\, arriving at Altura Cafe in Douglas Alexander Parade where the team from Bike Albany are welcome to join us for a coffee. After suitable refreshments we’ll return to Smales via the same route. No problems if some participants would like to return home independently from Altura. \nHope you can join us – will be good to get a ride in before winter starts to bite. And the weather? The odd shower won’t put us off\, but if it’s thoroughly miserable we’ll cancel. Keep an eye on the Bike Kaipatiki Facebook page for details. See you at Smales from 7.30am for a pre-ride coffee to make a start at 8am. \nThis ride is part of Ecofest North.

Road outside the primary school into an all-day car-free play space\, that’s closed to traffic and open for people. \nInspired by the international movements for School Streets and Play Streets\, we’re welcoming summertime by shining a light on how our streets can be healthy and happy places for people of all ages. \n8am – 9am: The fun begins before school\, with a wide open traffic-free street where children can play\, scoot and bike\, while parents and teachers share coffee and chat. \n9am – 3pm: During the school day\, Te R? Road will become an open-air classroom for fun and creative learning activities\, with visits from other schools\, kindergartens\, and community groups. \n3pm – 8pm: After school\, everyone’s invited to come and play! As afternoon rolls into evening\, the street fills with music and old-fashioned fun and games\, plus food trucks from 5pm – 8pm\, for a neighbourhood street party vibe until sunset. \n• Walk\, bike\, or scoot to the event\, and enjoy free and secure valet bike parking from 3pm.\n• Dine at the Auckland Food Truck Collective food trucks\, or bring a picnic dinner.\n• Visit the Bike Pt Chev info tent\, check out the Safe Kids driveway safety display\, and Auckland Transport will be on hand with info about upcoming streetscape projects.\n• We’ll have games and activities to share\, but feel free to bring your own\, too.\n• The event is smoke-free\, no alcohol and zero-waste\, for good clean fun. DESCRIPTION:This is the FINAL B&B Westside of 2019 – do not miss out! \nThis time\, we’re heading to Little Creatures in Hobsonville Point on Saturday 7 December. Note: we meet at the venue from 5.30pm; the guided ride to the venue sets off at 4:15pm. \nDisclaimer: please be responsible\, if you’re planning to drink a lot\, please use public transport instead. You are most welcome to come and talk bikes without your bike! \nGuided ride\nA guided group ride for Westies and/or cycle purists (i.e. no ferry) begins at 4:15pm at the Northwestern Shared Path – Te Atatu Underpass\, where the Northwestern Shared path goes under Te Atatu Rd. You can make your own way there and join the guided ride! \nNote that this ride will have a significant amount of on-road riding\, but we will go at the pace of the lowest rider. However\, we recommend a moderate fitness level and/or e-bike. See map below.  \nNote: the guided ride is one-way. If you’re not comfortable riding back alone\, please ask someone and they may be able to ride back with you. We often ride back together at the end of the event. \nIf you can’t join the guided ride\, feel free to make your own way there. Some of us should still be there until at least 9:00pm\, and the venue closes at 10:00pm. \nGetting there by ferry\nComing from downtown or further afield?
