DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Bike Champions Forum in Ōtāhuhu\, where we are delighted to bring together everyone who is interested in riding a bike – for transport or otherwise. Our vision is for streets that are safer for the whole community so that anyone can choose to ride a bike\, and whānau (family) and tamariki (children) have greater wellbeing. \nWhether you are an experienced cyclist\, a beginner\, or yet to get on a bike\, Bike Auckland invites everyone to share their vision for how we can empower more people to choose to cycle and advocate for safer streets across Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. \nIf you come by bike there will be bike parking available at the carpark behind the community centre. To ensure that your bike is safe and ready to ride\, a bike mechanic will also be present to perform basic safety checks. This service is free of charge\, so don’t miss this opportunity! \nPlease feel free to bring your whānau along; there will be lots of kai (food) to share. We look forward to seeing you there! \nArrive at 5.30om for a 6pm start. \nThis is a free event\, but if you can\, please get a ticket here\, so that we can keep track of how many people are coming 😊

DESCRIPTION:The Bike Owairaka Te Toi Uku/Crown Lynn Clayworks ride event is an easy\, safe cycle ride suitable for a range of people on bikes from confident riders to those who are a little bit rusty and somewhat hesitant about their skills. \nThe 9km (4.5km each way) ride will be led by Bike Owairaka (Jarvie Tunnicliffe and Jo Johnson) along the Avondale to New Lynn shared pathway from Alan Wood Park\, Bollard Avenue\, Owairaka to Te Toi Uku/Crown Lynn Clayworks museum at Ambrico Place.  There we will safely park up while enjoying a guided tour of the museum and its environs led by heritage consultant Robyn Mason. It will be an easy\, relaxing way for the whānau to participate in a casual activity and to see some of our community via our waterways. \nOur excursion begins at The Ōtara Bike Burb (OBB) in the Ōtara Town Centre\, where our guides and road marshals will take you on an easy ride to Ngati Ōtara (approx 4kms or less) and back. \nHelmets are provided for your Tamariki and Rangatahi if you don’t have one. SUMMARY:Journey by bicycle along Oakley Creek
DESCRIPTION:Date: October 2nd\, 2022 \nTime: 9:00am – 12:00pm \nHaere mā runga paihikara mā Te Auaunga (Journey by bicycle along Oakley Creek) \nDetails. Sunday October 2nd\, Start 9:00am Finish 12:00pm – Start at Molley Green Reserve close to the source of the Awa\, and finish at Waterview Reserve where the Awa empties into the Waitematā. \nThis is a lovely 11km (one way) gentle ride on off road paths that will suit families and new riders. The ride will be fine for all levels of fitness. The suggestion for minimum rider age is 8 years. This route will be suitable for all types of bikes. \nOur guide and storyteller will be Wendy John\, the Project Manager of Ngā Ringa o Te Auaunga – Friends of Oakley Creek\, which was established in 2004 to raise the profile of the Awa amongst the wider community\, and to increase recognition of the value and potential of Oakley Creek and its surrounds. We will stop at different points along the path where Wendy will tell us what will/might happen in that area. We will spend some time helping volunteers from Friends of Oakley Creek care for plants and trees that have recently been planted alongside the Awa at Harbutt Reserve. At the end of the ride\, there will be an opportunity for people to explore the Waterview Heritage Area. There will be an opportunity to make a koha to the mahi of Ngā Ringa o Te Auaunga – Friends of Oakley Creek. \nCoffee. The plan is to provide an after-ride coffee and light lunch nearby at Daily Bread\, we will provide details closer to the time. A number of us will be riding back to Mt Roskill/Puketāpapa pa after lunch\, so if you plan to drive to the start\, you will have good company for the ride back. \nRegistration. DESCRIPTION:FANCY. FIERCE. FUN. \nYou are invited to join the Auckland Fancy Women Bike Ride on Sunday\, September 18th!\nBecause women can change the world\, and the bicycle can help. Women’s visibility in urban spaces is key to claiming the right to the city. Cycling is a powerful way for women to become visible in society and a completely new way to interact with the city.\nFancy Women Bike Ride is an event for women\, organized by women to call for infrastructure and inspiration.\nThe more women who cycle\, the more women will be encouraged to cycle.\nEvery year\, the fancy women bike ride is held on World #CarFreeDay and this year more than 200 cities will be participating in this event.\nWe are celebrating the 10th anniversary of the #fwbr movement. It will be the first one in Tāmaki Makaurau. \nThe Route: \nIt is 5km and it’s flat. We will ride through Viaduct\, Silo Park\, Westhaven and finish the ride at the cafe – Buoy for coffee/drinks.\nA map showing the route will be posted on the event’s page. \nPlease be at “The Cloud” at 2pm.\nWe will start the ride at 2.15pm on the dot.
