DESCRIPTION:Join us for a fun session of empowerment\, friendship\, and the joy of pedalling together. \nTailored for women in the Whau area – New Windsor\, Avondale\, Glenavon\, Blockhouse Bay\, Green Bay\, New Lynn\, and Kelston.\nThis Bronze Bike Skills course is great for beginners. You’ll learn how to balance on a bike\, how to pedal independently\, and some basic bike handling skills. It’s a great option for anyone who hasn’t ridden before or for anyone who hasn’t been on a bike in a while. \nSuitable for women 14 years old and over. \nWhat to bring:\nWear closed toe shoes\, bring a rain jacket (you never know with Auckland weather!)\, a drink bottle\, and your own bike and helmet if they have one (if not we can provide one). \nEvent brought to you by the Whau Ethnic Collective and thanks to support from the Whau Climate Action Network and the Whau Local Board.\nThis event will be delivered by Bigfoot Adventures. \nCost: Free – But you must book a ticket to secure your place as spaces are limited. All bodies and all bikes are welcome. \nFrom 11am\, join us at Bike Hub Grey Lynn. We’ll have the hub open for bike checks and second hand bike sales. You or your littlies can also have a go on the pump track before we set off. \nOur beginner-friendly group ride will begin with a calm cruise through Grey Lynn’s greenways. We will be riding on a mixture of shared pathways\, protected cycleways\, and quiet streets. You can see the route here. \nWe will be cycling at a social\, easy pace. The 5km route is mostly flat\, and we will have rest stops at the top of any hills\, making sure everyone is ready to go before we set off again. \nOnce we arrive at the beach we’ll park up with the free secure bike valet parking so we can enjoy our beach time worry-free. You are welcome to split off and do your own thing once we arrive. SUMMARY:Hunua Ranges Regional Park River Loop Safari Ride
DESCRIPTION:This ride is quite different from our usual city-based safari routes. Instead of bike paths\, neighbourhood streets\, and urban corners\, we’ll be riding through one of the closest true forest environments to Auckland. The Hunua Ranges offer deep valleys\, native bush\, open river flats\, and peaceful gravel roads with no vehicle traffic. You will not need a mountain bike; the route is mainly light gravel so you might not be comfortable on a racing bike. Don’t worry if you are not used to gravel riding\, we will be going slowly and carefully. The Hunua River Loop is a scenic gravel and bush-edge circuit following the Mangatāwhiri Stream through the heart of the Hunua Ranges. The loop includes flat valley riding\, shaded bush sections\, and gentle climbs with views back across the river. Total distance is approximately 10–12 km\, taking 90–120 minutes at a relaxed safari pace. \nRegistration is required – please review the full details and register on this link.

SUMMARY:Help us decorate K' Road's bike parking for Pride Month - Yarn for Pride
DESCRIPTION:Every year we decorate the bike parking along Karangahape Road in celebration of our LGBTQI+ community\, the queer history of K Rd\, and the growing cycle network. Will you help us put some decorations up? \nWe’ll be meeting at Zeki’s (K’ Road) at 10am on Saturday January 31st for a chat and a beverage before continuing on to put up the decorations. You’re welcome to bring crochet\, knitting\, or other crafts to work on for while we are there. \nOnce we’re hydrated (and probably caffeinated)\, we will begin to decorate the bike parking along Karangahape Road in celebration of Pride Month. This is a legal activity; we have an event permit. The decorations are pre-made crocheted and knitted scarves. We will sew them on to the bike parking. This is known as yarnbombing. \nBeginners are welcome – we will teach you. There will be scissors\, yarn\, and yarn needles available for you and your friends to use. \nPlease wear sunblock\, bring water\, and stay hydrated. SUMMARY:Help us decorate K' Road's bike parking for Pride Month - Yarn for Pride
DESCRIPTION:Every year we decorate the bike parking along Karangahape Road in celebration of our LGBTQI+ community\, the queer history of K Rd\, and the growing cycle network. Will you help us put some decorations up? \nWe’ll be meeting at Zeki’s (K’ Road) on Sunday January the 18th for a chat and a beverage before continuing on to put up the decorations. You’re welcome to bring crochet\, knitting\, or other crafts to work on for while we are there. \nOnce we’re hydrated (and probably caffeinated)\, we will begin to decorate the bike parking along Karangahape Road in celebration of Pride Month. This is a legal activity; we have an event permit. The decorations are pre-made crocheted and knitted scarves. We will sew them on to the bike parking. This is known as yarnbombing. \nBeginners are welcome – we will teach you. There will be scissors\, yarn\, and yarn needles available for you and your friends to use. \nPlease wear sunblock\, bring water\, and stay hydrated. If you have made some decorations for the bike parking please bring them. \nOf course\, please stay home if you are feeling unwell. \nIf you have made some decorations but are unable to put them up yourself\, you are welcome to\n– bring them to us at this coffee meetup\, or\n– send or drop them to the Electric Bike Team (29 East Street\, Auckland Central\, Auckland 1010)\, or\n– send or drop them off to the Auckland Pride Office (281 Karangahape Road\, Auckland Central\, Auckland 1010)\nAnd we will make sure they get put up. \n‘Yarn for Pride’ is an annual event run by Rainbow Riders Tāmaki Makaurau and is part of the 2026 Auckland Pride Festival. Now this glowing pink ribbon with incredible views is a joyful\, iconic part of our city\, and a cornerstone of the growing network which connects more Aucklanders to where they want to go. \nThe path opened on 3rd December 2015\, after being constructed in a remarkable 9 months from idea to opening. \nFast forward ten years\, and we want to mark this milestone with all of you! Please join us for a celebratory event on the morning of Wednesday 3 December. \nWe are looking for keen riders to help us mark the occasion\nIf you plan on coming along on your bike to ride the path with us for a photo opportunity\, please register your attendance as soon as possible. DESCRIPTION:This event is by Puketāpapa Active Transport Haven and Bike Hub Mount Roskill. Registration required. \n  \nDetails. Saturday October 25th\, Start 9:00am Finish 12:00pm – Start at Molley Green Reserve close to the source of the Awa\, and finish at Waterview Reserve where the Awa empties into the Waitematā. \nRoute Description. This is a lovely 11km (one way) gentle ride on off road paths that will suit families and new riders. The ride will be fine for all levels of fitness. The suggestion for minimum rider age is 8 years. This route will be suitable for all types of bikes. \nOur guide and storyteller will be Wendy John\, Project Manager of Ngā Ringa o Te Auaunga – Friends of Oakley Creek established in 2004 to raise the profile of the Awa amongst the wider community\, and to increase recognition of the value and potential of Oakley Creek and its surrounds. We will stop at different points along the path where Wendy will tell us what has/will/might happen in that area. We will spend some time helping volunteers from Friends of Oakley Creek care for plants and trees that have recently been planted alongside the Awa. At the end of the ride\, there will be an opportunity for people to explore the Waterview Heritage Area. There will be an opportunity to make a koha to the mahi of Ngā Ringa o Te Auaunga – Friends of Oakley Creek. \nCoffee. The plan is to provide an after-ride coffee and light lunch nearby at Daily Bread\, will provide details closer to the time. A number of us will be riding back to Mt Roskill/Puketāpapa after lunch\, so if you plan to drive to the start\, you will have good company for the ride back. \nPlease note: While we have planned this ride very carefully\, responsibility for each person’s well-being is yours to manage. This is particularly the case with children. Each child must be accompanied by and be the responsibility of a caregiver. This ride is planned as a loop\, so if you need to be somewhere else before the suggested ending time\, you would need to plan your route if you were riding back early. DESCRIPTION:This event is by Cycle Action Waiheke. Registration required. \n  \nAre you mountain bike curious? Do you have a bike but don’t know how to get started trail-riding? Do you look longingly at the bush-clad hills of Onetangi Sports Park and wish you could get amongst it on two wheels? Mountain biking is so much fun – it’s great for physical and mental health\, gets you out into nature\, and is so exciting and exhilarating (NOT scary – unless you want it to be!). Come along to our Mountain Bike Sampler day at Onetangi Sports Park and give it a go with guidance from experienced riders. We’ll start with some basic skills on the field before hitting the Grade 1 Family Track for a couple of laps. Then we can break into two groups – those who want to head up the hill for something more adventurous can do so\, while those happy to keep practicing on the Family Track can stick with that. No one will be left behind or pressured to do anything they are not comfortable with. \nRiders of all ages are welcome. You will need a bike in reasonable condition (preferably with front suspension) and a helmet. And water! \nPlease make sure that you check your and your children’s bikes in advance\, and bring them to Bike Hub for maintenance if necessary. We can’t bring kids out with bikes that don’t work\, and don’t want to disappoint on the day!

DESCRIPTION:This event is organised in partnership with Bike Auckland\, Cycling NZ\, Blind Sport NZ\, and Beautification Trust’s Manurewa Bike Hub\, and hosted by the Manurewa Table Tennis Club. \nHop on for a day of FREE adaptive cycling fun! Everyone is welcome to come and explore all kinds of bikes such as handcycles\, recumbent bikes\, trikes\, tandems and more in a welcoming\, inclusive environment. \n \nThere will be workshops to teach you how to ride a tandem cycle. Cycling NZ\, and Blind Sport NZ\, with support from BLENNZ\, will be running the workshops to explain how to be the pilot (rider at the front)\, how to be the stoker (rider at the back). This will include communication skills\, routes to use\, and information on Tandem Cycling as a high performance sport.
