DESCRIPTION:Do you live or work in the CBD and are keen to master the art of riding a bike? Want to learn to fix a flat? Mix the joy of learning with the whimsical lights and architecture of the Cloud\, and you’ve got rain-proof winter fun.\nOur Beginner Bike and Maintenance Drop-in Sessions in The Cloud will be held monthly through the winter months. Join us for the fourth and final winter session there on Wednesday 13th September from 5.30 – 7.30pm\nIf you’re new to riding\, haven’t been on a bike for a while\, or are getting back into it but need a bit of a confidence boost\, then come on by. And it is a great opportunity to introduce a friend to cycling.\nThere will also be a mechanic to help with quick fixes and share their knowledge\, so bring any questions you may have about how to keep your bike running smoothly through winter.\nWe’ll also be running small group rides along the waterfront on a first come first served basis.\nDrop in\, learn some new skills\, and enjoy pedaling around the Cloud. There’s no need to book – bring your own bike or borrow one of ours (available on a first come\, first served basis). Look out for our instructor team and a trailer load of bikes as they will be there ready to go. \nAt the session there will be separate ‘learn to ride’ instruction for anyone who has never ridden a bike\, while other participants will practice skills such as changing gears\, braking\, bike control\, signalling and more. \nA mechanic will also be there to answer any maintenance questions including how to remove a wheel\, how to adjust brakes and how to best look after a bike. \nThe drop-in session is a flexible format where you can take part in cycle skills lessons\, bike maintenance\, or a little of both. Unable to stay for the full time? No sweat\, stay for as little or as long as you like. Whether your kid is starting on a balance bike or making the transition to pedals\, the team is there to help. \nIf your child doesn’t yet have a bike but is keen to give it a go\, no problem: there will be bikes available to borrow on a first-come\, first served basis. \nSessions are weather dependent and run on a drop in basis. DESCRIPTION:Meet at Birkenhead Wharf at 9:00am to catch the 9:35am Ferry\, returning on the 11:40am Ferry from downtown. \nThis guided bike ride is aimed for people who ride currently\, who use the city (or surrounding area) and want to try cycling round town but aren’t sure how to use our new cycle paths and where they connect.  The ride is not limited to those working in town – anyone wanting a day out exploring is welcome to join the ride. \nWe will be catching the ferry to the Downtown Ferry Building\, meeting for a briefing where the Next Bike hire bikes are on Queens Wharf.  From there we will head east along the Quay Street Cycleway\, along the Beach Road Cycleway\, up the Grafton Gully Cycleway and along Upper Queen St to the start of the Northwestern Cycleway on Ian Mckinnon Drive. \nThen we head downhill via Canada Street and along Te Ara I Whiti (the pink path) before heading back down the Nelson Street Cycleway\, crossing through Victoria Park\, on to Silo Park\, and back through North Wharf and the Viaduct to the Quay Street Cycleway where we will head back on the ferry to Birkenhead. \nMost of the journey will be on protected cycleways\, though some will be on shared paths (share with care) and small sections will be on the road. \nRiders should be comfortable riding on the road\, riding the distance described above\, and riding hills. You will need a road legal bicycle\, helmet\, your HOP card or cash for your ferry fare\, water\, sunscreen and appropriate clothing keeping in mind it is spring in Auckland. \nWhat to bring: \n\nA roadworthy bike\nYour helmet\nEnclosed footwear\nSunscreen\nA jacket\nWater\nA sense of adventure and your smile.\n\nQuestions? DESCRIPTION:Our Beginner Bike and Maintenance Drop-in Sessions are back for summer with sessions in Henderson\, the Cloud\, Mangere and Takapuna. \nThese sessions are held at Takapuna Primary – park in the school’s carpark and then head to the courts and look for the instructor team there. \nAt the session there will be separate ‘learn to ride’ instruction for anyone who has never ridden a bike\, while other participants will practice skills such as changing gears\, braking\, bike control\, signalling and more. \nA mechanic will also be there to answer any maintenance questions\, including how to remove a wheel\, how to adjust brakes and how to best look after a bike. \nThe drop-in session is a flexible format where you can take part in cycle skills lessons\, bike maintenance\, or a little of both. Unable to stay for the full time? No sweat\, stay for as little or as long as you like. It is also a good opportunity to come along and ask one of our regional coordinators for more info on riding locally. \nSo\, if you are keen to master the art of riding a bike or want to learn to fix a flat… pop in. \nBikes are available on a first-come\, first-served basis. We don’t want you to miss a moment of the fun\, so it is best to be there early. \nNo need to book for these sessions.
