SUMMARY:The Big Bike Film Night - Auckland CBD
DESCRIPTION:The Big Bike Film Night is on a mission- sharing the best cycling short films from around the world with you.\nShowcasing just over 2 hours of content with our 2021 collection that has everything a cycle-centric audience could want – action\, drama\, humour\, and plenty of inspiration; the evening is unashamedly and utterly\, utterly\, utterly designed and devised for the two wheel devotee!\nThis year’s treasure chest of films includes an incredible story of a transformative bikepacking journey through the Canadian Rockies; an unusual Victorian pastime taking place in modern London; a rider who has a burden of blindness and its vulnerabilities to contend with while undertaking a gruelling self-supported fat bike race in the Arctic; the humble story of a BMX Club and their dream of becoming the number one Club in the UK; a young female rider who goes back in time to carry the stories of the past into the future; four adventurers bikerafting and riding through challenging landscapes\, following the historical trails to and from one of New Zealand’s most significant rivers; and a unique bike builder who builds off-road cycles that help change people’s lives; ALL in the mix!!\nThese short films are a great reminder of why we love to ride our bike; with stories that captivate us\, stories that make us think\, and most importantly of all- inspiring us to get out and ride. All celebrate the fun\, adventure\, and joy that cycling enables.\nIf you want to ride your bike to the Academy Cinemas\, there will be parking for your steed and security keeping an eye on it courtesy of our good friends at Auckland Transport.\nSo…listen to the voice inside you; it’s telling you to go. Grab your mates\, grab your tickets\, GO ON… grab your bike and come along for the ride!!\nFor more details and tickets visit www.bigbikefilmnight.nz\nSEATING IS NOT ALLOCATED and tickets can be bought online as well as from the venue on the night (subject to availability).\nALL BIKES. ALL TERRAINS. ALL GOOD!

SUMMARY:Mystery Strava-Art Charity Ride
DESCRIPTION:Come create Strava-art with your GPS computer. With a twist: the super-awesome image will only be revealed at the end of the ride! \nJoin the ride here on Strava: https://www.strava.com/clubs/467940/group_events/467494 \nYou may remember Carl Wells and his amazing Strava art from such previous hits as the birthday birthday self-portrait\, and the infamous prostate cancer fundraiser. \nThis year\, Carl wants to do something a bit extra for his favorite charity\, Cool Earth. Environmental destruction and climate change are big and scary problems we need to be doing more to address. Cool Earth helps indigenous communities on the front lines of rainforest destruction earn more from keeping the forest standing than they would otherwise earn from clearing it. Win Win! \nYou can chip in and support the campaign here. \nThe ride is approximately 30km\, and will travel at an easy pace. Carl is hoping for a big group to help create an indelible and impressive image. Questions? Drop Carl a line.

SUMMARY:Cycle Chic Film Night #2
DESCRIPTION:Brought to you by the Big Bike Film Night\, a programme of short cycling films on the big screen\, selected to inspire\, encourage and celebrate women who love to bike. Showcasing women who push boundaries\, are courageous\, and are advocates for change; all through the power of the humble bike. It’s the ‘thinking cyclists’ film collection that ALL genders will connect with and enjoy. \nThe Wednesday 15 August screening starts at 7.45pm\, and will finish shortly after 9.25pm. (There is also a Tuesday showing.) \nTickets are available from The Big Bike Film Night website\, or by phoning Brett on 021 748 441. \nDoor sales at the Academy Cinema on the night subject to availability. \nThe line-up features eleven carefully selected short films\, from emerging and established independent film-makers. A magical journey of colour and creativity by an artistic mountain biker; a New Zealand female road cyclist who believes in the power of bicycles\, an enthralling film set in big city America on two (in their own words) ‘bad-ass BMXers’ following their passion; a bicycle store with a unique point of difference; a heart-warming story about migrant women in Amsterdam finding their way into a new society and the liberating feeling of riding a bicycle; and a documentary that focuses on three Nepali women breaking through cultural barriers to spread their love of mountain biking.
