CAA: Changing Auckland for Cycling & Greenways Presentations [UPDATED]

Please note that CAA’s presentation is light on text & explanations, as Barbara was doing her talking from notes and her mind – so if you want to hear the full story, come meet us on the 29th of March for the next public CAA meeting, where she will give you the same presentation, as well as update you on what we have since already achieved!

This Wednesday, Auckland Council’s Transport Committee chaired by Mike Lee will be hearing two key presentations about a better Auckland for cycling. First off will be Stephen Smythe from the Greenways project, talking about a better Ponsonby Road for walking and cycling.

Directly afterwards, Cycle Action’s chair and spokesperson Barbara Cuthbert will be presenting on “Changing Auckland for Cycling”. Highlights of the presentation will be:

• Who are CAA? – introducing the Council to our team of enthusiasts and experts.
• Introducing a priority campaign to remove on-road pinch points (kerb-build outs, hazardous parking etc…) that make our key on-road routes hazardous for cycling.
• Updating on the “Radial Routes” campaign of key off-road cycling backbone projects, with a particular focus on the city centre and the waterfront.

We invite everyone who can make it to listen to these two key presentations – speaking times are limited, so you should be able to see everything wrapped up by 10 am.
