Bike Mangere off to a flying start – Go Teau!

Remember Teau Aiturau? His holiday bike workshop was a huge success: he reports that eighty to one hundred people showed up throughout the day. At one point, he managed to get fifty kids biking around at once! Now, that’s what we call “critical mass.”

Here’s Teau in his own words:

Ride to the FUTURE !!!  Awesome bike day teaching these young ones to ride a bike safely, learning bike skills, fixing bikes, building their confidence and having lots of fun.

Like to acknowledge and thank our heavenly father for the many blessings, to everyone who sponsored, donated, supported, volunteered, and to the parents who came out to make this day a success.

Thanks to: Auckland Airport, Natural High Bikes, Hubbards, The Mad Butcher, Bikewise, Cycle Action, Diana from the Mangere Refugee Centre, Bigfoot Adventures, Counties Manukau Sports, Bike Barn, Mangere Maori Wardens, Turiki Health, Airport Warehouse, Big Phil’s Bouncy Castle, Mangere Countdown and Pak’n’Save, Ine’s Fruits, The 2 Dollar Shop, and Mangere Centre Park.

Thanks again
God Bless yeeea!

Thanks to everyone for the moral and practical support. And of course it wouldn’t have happened without the man himself – what a local hero. You inspire the rest of us, Mr T.

Keep Teau in mind if you’re looking for a new home for an old bike, or a chance to lend a hand. You can contact him directly: 022 360 5748

Here are some great pics that capture the flavour of the day. The enthusiasm is contagious. Better get cracking on some truly rideable roads for these beautiful young bikers!
