Auckland Cycle Carnival – This Sunday!

Bike Auckland

Unicyclist Copyright Fredrik Borgstroem CC-BY-3.0On Sunday 10th of February from 10am – 4pm, Auckland Transport will be holding the first ever Summer Cycle Carnival on Queens Wharf in Auckland. The Carnival is a free event dedicated to all things cycling!

The event will have something for everyone from cycling enthusiasts to families. Information tents will provide information on BMX, mountain biking, road cycling, bike polo, helmet fitting, recycling bikes for refugees, bike checks, current cycle projects and much more. Mini-tutorials will be held throughout the day on topics such as brakes, gears, and fixing a puncture. For the more creative, there will even be a session on how to make your own mudguards.

Families will be well entertained with an obstacle course, face painting, bike decorating, unicycling (but likely no triple-wheel unicycles, sorry! – the editor), bike building and a bike riding clown! And if you tire of the biking activities, there will be live music and a DJ providing entertainment throughout the day.

The programme also includes 3 live freestyle BMX shows by the BMX crew.

So come along and experience Auckland’s first ever Summer Cycle Carnival! More information can be found at www.cyclingsthego.co.nz
