We’re delighted to announce our guest speaker for our next monthly meeting: Jonathan Kennett.

WHEN: Thursday 30 April, 6pm

WHERE: Ellen Melville Hall, High St.

Jonathan wrote the book on biking around New Zealand. That’s not a metaphor – he really did write the book, a whole bunch of them! Along with his brothers, he’s a legend in the establishment of mountain biking in New Zealand, and has been instrumental in expanding the NZ Cycle Trail to all sorts of ordinary riders.

Seriously, check out the Kennett brothers’ blog – these guys are hands-on and hard out.

We’re hoping Jonathan will tell us about what he’s learned while writing his latest book (on short, easy rides around various urban centres), and how the whole hub-and-spoke approach is working out, in linking towns and cities to the regions via bike trails.

For a taster, here’s Jonathan talking to Kathryn Ryan on Nine to Noon in November 2013 about the great leaps made in pulling together Nga Haerenga/The NZ Cycle Trail, and where to from here in terms of urban trails. Inspiring stuff!

Everyone welcome! If you’re planning on coming, kindly RSVP to barbcuth@gmail.com so we know what size room to use 🙂
